George Rongos, founder of George’s International Market, now retired, is honored in a mural at the store on Broadway. Its bakery next to the market underwent a renovation in fall 2015. The owners now have other locations, with one set to open in December on St. Salsa Grille in George’s International Market celebrated its 5th anniversary last week. George Rongos started George’s International Market in a small space on Taylor Street to sell the European foods that many living in Fort Wayne would travel to buy in Chicago or Detroit, his family says.
